Today is a very special day. I have just received a special email from Microsoft HQ, an email saying that I was awarded with the prestigious Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award on Data Platform (SQL Server).
Here’s a part of the email:
This is my 9th award year as Microsoft Data Platform MVP but the excitement is exactly the same just like the first time I was awarded. With just around 4000 MVP awardees worldwide on all Microsoft technologies, and only around 400 on Data Platform, this is a great honor for me.
However, being recognized by Microsoft as an expert in your field is not only an honor. To me, is also a responsibility. A responsibility to do even more, to share even more technical expertise with the community, to lead, to inspire, to learn, to teach and to help.
I would like to say a huge “thank you” to Microsoft for believing in technical communities and for doing so many things to help our communities get stronger and better.
I would also like to thank my MVP Community Program Manager for all his support. Moreover, I would like to thank the Microsoft Product teams for all those great and useful discussions we have on a variety of topics, and of course, you, my fellow SQL Server community members for help shaping our amazing technical community.
Above all, a big “THANK YOU” to my beautiful wife and daughters for respecting what I do and for all their support. Dedicating a large part of your life to technology requires sacrifices on other things. One such thing is a large part of free time you have for your family. Hey loves: without your support and understanding, none of this would be possible.
So, what’s up next? Believe me, there are many cool things coming up the next months! Blogs, webcasts, guest articles on well-respected journals, conference sessions, books, software tools and more! We are going to deep dive together into SQL Server high availability topics such as Always On Availability Groups. We are going to talk about and see in action SQL Server on Linux. I’m gonna start a brand new educational series of blogs and webcasts on Azure and the list goes on!
